KAYAKOY

KAYA KOY (KARMYLASSOS) ( near FETHIYE )
Kaya koy buildings on the slope were constructed during the second part of the 19 th. Century and the first quarter of the 20 th. Century.

Shortly after proclamation of the Turkish Republic, the Greeks living in the region were exchanged with the Turks resident in the Western Thrace, which resulted in the houses to be vacated.

  1. At he time of the evacuation there were about 500 houses, chapels and churches. A population of around 2,500.
These figures are frequently exagerated, sometimes by a factor of ten!
